Although happy to be Canadian, I love the 4th of July!
More particularly I love Boston and the way the 4th is celebrated on the esplanade by the Boston Pops.
I'm not alone in this. My whole family had a tradition of gathering at my brother-in-law Steve's place (he of the large screen TV with surround sound)to watch the PBS broadcast of the 4th of July celebration.
PBS did a wonderful job by simply broadcasting the entire event live. It took the whole evening and we ordered in boxes of pizza and gallons of soft drinks and other munchies and stayed from the opening notes to the spectacular fireworks display at the end.
Now that the broadcast has been moved to a major network, it just isn't the same. Instead of the entire 1812, we get only the finale. Where's the build up? Where's the anticipation? So, we no longer get together as a family, but Linda and I still watch and will watch tonight.
High on our list of things to do before we die, is to travel to Boston for the 4th, spread our picnic blanket on the grass of the esplanade and get ready to yell cheer and have a great time!
Happy 4th my American friends. You sure know how to celebrate!!

Fireworks bring out the kids in all of us, there's something about that 1812 Overture that does it too...sounds like a plan explorer, make those reservations now for next year for the Boston Pops, maybe you can plan a small family reunion. Have a great 4th, n.

Hi Anex, I got a hold of computer (it's been a week!!) Trying to catch up. LOVED your scenic Canadian video!!! Gorgeous. Thanks for your good wishes on the fourth and Happy Belated Canada day! I wish they showed Canada Idol here, I would enjoy it. My dog is scared of fireworks too and has to be with someone when they're set off. I am getting better at getting and giving hugs. I'm a "light quick hugger" but have come to enjoy the heartfelt big hugs I'm fortunate to get. I regret I didn't hug my children more. I have started initiating hugs and touching even when it's not just for coming or going. Touching when done in a nonthreatening but comfort way is a good thing.

Hi Anex, Maybe next year we'll all come up to your house on Canada Day. Yup, all 300 million of us. Oh, we won't impose, we'll bring the lawn chairs and those from California can bring tofu burgers. All you have to supply is the Canadian BEER!!
I agree about the 1812 Overture. It's a must to hear in in entirety. We watched the one from Washington D.C. on TV, and I didn't think that they really put much of an effort into it. Jimmy Smits as the host?? Gimmee a break. Oh well, 22 weeks until Christmas.

It's going Anex.
Didn't do anything but keep my husband company while he painted. I am a terrible painter of walls and trim. I can and will help, but I'd rather not worry about standing and getting paint on my cast/boot. So I'm doing other tedious assignments while he paints. The weather has not been good these past two days so I didn't feel bad about not attending some outdoor activities.

We watch it too! Love, Love to go to Boston. Son in NYC and we all should make it someday.....

And I think Squash would be the right word if you all tried to squish into my back yard!
I think the neighbours might have something to say about all the cars parked on the road too!
But Molson/s would be happy!
Hope your fourth was a great one!
